Reflections: Beginning the Year with the Awen. Listening for the Flowing Spirit

As we begin 2026, I’ve been reflecting on our logo the Awen, a Celtic symbol made of three dots with three rays of light extending from them. The word Awen means “flowing Spirit,” and it points to the ways Spirit awakens inspiration, creativity, and balance.

The Awen is often connected to sacred triads such as:

Mind • Heart • BodyLand • Sea • SkyWisdom • Love • TruthPast • Present • Future

As I enter this new year, I want to pay closer attention to how Spirit is moving in my mind, heart, and body. Where is there wisdom and fear? Where does love and shame show up? Where is anger and the need for acceptance being revealed?

I’m learning to notice these parts of my life so I can live in a way that feels more true, joyful, and free.

What awareness are you bringing into this new year?

The Practice

Silence and Solitude

When life has been full and fast-paced, taking time for silence and solitude can create space to notice what our bodies, minds, and hearts are asking for.

To begin:

Find a quiet spot and get comfortable.

Chose a word or phrase to bring you back when your mind wanders (it will wander, its normal!)

Now, close your eyes or lower your gaze and take a 5 deep breathes, paying attention to your breathing will help you stay in the present moment.

Sit for 5 to 20 minutes and simply notice what comes to mind. Use your word or your breath to stay present.

There is no need to fix anything during this time. Only notice and be aware.

If sitting is difficult go for a walk, remaining silent and noticing what comes up for you.
